This week on the show, rounding up all of the SDCC 2018 news and announcements and remembering special effects pioneer Terry Windell. First up, out of SDCC there were a ton of new merch announcements, including Spirt Halloween props and items, new 1:1 replicas, action figures and more (including a Slimer Chia Pet?). Then we'll discuss Ghostbusters World, which was the talk of the con for Ghostbusters fans. Many got a hands-on demo of the game and provided their thoughts. On the press tour for Mission Impossible, writer/director Drew Pearce was hit up (again) about his work on Ghostbusters that was abandoned, and had some interesting comments. Finally, we're remembering Terry Windell of ILM and Boss Films who passed last week at the age of 61, the pioneer who was known for his memorable lightning effects in Ghostbusters and Return of the Jedi left a lasting impression that Troy and Chris discuss. All that and more on this week's Crossrip!
Look out, TV Hall of Fame, here come the original Not Ready for Prime Time Players. Surprisingly, Bill Murray was also on-hand for the celebration and had a few very sentimental words to say.
Listen to this, Jerry - it's a movie about nothing. No really. We'll explore Patrick Willems' video that posits Ghostbusters was a film essentially about nothing. What did he mean by that, and can we offer a rebuttal? Find out this week. Also on the show: the Ghostbusters Ectomobile Owner's Workshop Manual gets a preview, the Ghostbusters of North Carolina get some screentime, Ghostbusters pinball is coming to your consoles, and could a proton pack be effective against Pennywise? (Due to technical difficulties, Troy sounds like he's broadcasting from a submarine somewhere off the coast of California. Apologies.)

Alex joins us to chat a little about the in-world psychology of Ghostbusters (ie. the phrase "I ain't afraid of no ghosts" and how humor helps disarm stressful situations, why the hell do crowds gather around the hellmouth where the world might be ending?), then chats a little about the general social media response to the new Ghostbusters, the very polarized views, and introduces Troy and Chris to the concept of "weaponized nostalgia." We also talk with Alex a bit about the benefits and the detriments of having these extended adolescences, purchasing toys and playing dress up as adults. This is one you won't want to miss.
