GBIC_Instagram Ep733.jpg

This week on the show, catching up on the news and then taking a deep dive into the newly officially released Ghostbusters II score by Randy Edelman (and as a bonus, our first listen to the Ghostbusters Afterlife score). First up in the news, a merch round-up of biblical proportions: Hasbro Plasma Series Wave 2 figures are hitting shelves, as are family sized boxes of Ghostbusters cereal, tons of halloween costume offerings, and a whole lot more. No, we won’t talk about those images that circulated around the internet last week and we’ll tell you why. Then in the second half of the show, we’re diving into the first listen to Rob Simonsen’s score to Ghostbusters Afterlife as heard in a promotional piece on the official Ghostbusters social platforms and using that as a way into talking about Sony Masterworks’ outstanding release of the Ghostbusters II score. After 32 years of waiting, we have a clean and official listen to the score which answers some questions, opens up a few new puzzles and more. Join us as we talk through some of the tracks, lay one or two of them over the film to see where they may have gone, and a whole lot more!

#727 - "The Lasso Model" - July 12, 2021

GBIC_Instagram Ep727.jpg

This week on the show, Troy takes the opportunity of a solo record to do a little thought experiment: what is it that makes us love the movies, music, art, photography, as much as we do? And could Ted Lasso be the key to it all? Join us for that exercise plus a few updates on the Ghostbusters II score album release, and a whole lot more!

#726 - "The Slimer Mandela" - July 6, 2021

GBIC_Instagram Ep726.jpg

This week on the show, examining the items up for bids at the Prop Store auction and once again diving into a recurring Mandela phenomenon recently revisited by the official Ghostbusters social media team: did Slimer ever emerge from the Statue of Liberty at the end of Ghostbusters II? Or is it one of those occurrences where enough people misremember seeing it and therefore, it’s been accepted as being true?

#724 - "Fathers, Families, and Demos" - June 21, 2021

GBIC_Instagram Ep724.jpg

This week on the show, and in honor of Father’s Day, we’re passing the proton pack: Ghostbusters Afterlife news, merch news, updates on the Ghostbusters II score release and a Hughes/Thrall demo discovery that has left us speechless (imagine that)! First up some chat about a featurette released just after Ghostbusters Day that has a few behind the scenes revelations about the film. And what does the release of this BTS piece mean for the release of a new trailer (and how will we talk about the trailer if and when it arrives)? Then, after a few merch and fan project updates, we’re dissecting the bombshell taking GB fandom by storm: the arrival of yet another unused demo for the Ghostbusters theme song by Hughes and Thrall. How do we feel about it? And why is it so familiar? Tune in to find out!

#631 - "Eaglemoss Builders Club Part 6 and Ghostbusters II Score News" - August 17, 2020

GBIC_Instagram Ep631.jpg

The long-awaited score album release for Ghostbusters II is coming, we’ll talk about that as we also discover just how difficult steering rods and spring coils can be while building our Eaglemoss Hero Collector Ecto-1 subscription kits! That’s right, as we work through Stage 14 of our Ectomobile scale model kit, we’re talking about Randy Edelman’s score finally getting a proper album release from Sony Masterworks, Sony Pictures opening the studio doors again for a drive-in theater, LEGO mobile gaming, even the state of popular culture as a whole (as tends to often happen with these building episodes). Join us, won’t you! And watch out for flying spring coils.

#531 - "What If: Ghostbusters II Was a Bigger Success?" - August 5, 2019

GBIC_Instagram Ep531.jpg

This week on the show, a few quick news items and then an interesting thought experiment: what if Ghostbusters II had been the biggest movie of Summer 1989, beating out Batman among others for box office gold? And what if that meant a third sequel would have been made around 1991? What would it have meant for the franchise? Would we still be getting the film we’re getting in 2020, or would the state of the franchise be completely different?

#528 - "Rust City" - July 5, 2019

GBIC_Instagram Ep528.jpg

This week on the show, Ghostbusters II archival unearthed, Ghostbusters (2020) casting, technical talk and a Japanese cover of Hot Night, are you not entertained? First up, a recently revealed/unearthed UK entertainment program called Film Eighty Nine had a great Ghostbusters II segment which gets Troy and Chris talking about the past before they talk about the future. Then, in our Ghostbusters (2020) chat: Celeste O’Connor and Logan Kim have been cast as the last two of the group of four kids to star in the next film. What are their roles? We’re not speculating anymore, remember? But what we can talk about? The film is being shot on the Arri Alexa LF cameras. What does that mean? And just how many keys to the city does Ernie Hudson have (and why isn’t the answer all of them)? Then in the second half of the show, your voicemails and a special treat from our friend Naoki in Japan, a cover of “Hot Night” that came out in 1984!

This week on the show, the boys explore the fan theory presented by a recent article that posits, what if everyone involved in Ghostbusters II was actually dead?
