Dan Aykroyd has seen Afterlife, Variety dives into Kate McKinnon’s anxieties (and how they inspired a certain Ghostbuster), and is Trevor changing the oil on the car in the middle of nowhere? That’s right, it’s another week and another episode of the Crossrip. We’re starting out with all the news fit to speak including Dan Aykroyd’s toast and comments about Afterlife (and his snub on SNL last week), Variety talking to Kate McKinnon about her social anxiety and comedy being her defense, and a few merch items. Then in the second half of the show, we’re answering your questions: when will we see another trailer? What’s in store for Ghostbusters Day? How can kids continue a legacy started in 1984? All that and a whole lot more awaits you,!

Huh? Yeah, buckle up - this one's going to take a little bit of discourse. After that, a little news including the DVD/Blu-ray release date for Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, Leslie Jones at the Olympics, a Q&A with Kate McKinnon, and a merch round up (spoiler alert: we're really jealous of everyone in Japan).

#225 - Alex Langley/Psychology of Ghostbusters - June 13, 2016

This week on the show, we're joined by psychology professor and author of the Geek Handbook, Alex Langley. Alex joins us to chat a little about the in-world psychology of Ghostbusters (ie. the phrase "I ain't afraid of no ghosts" and how humor helps disarm stressful situations, why the hell do crowds gather around the hellmouth where the world might be ending?), then chats a little about the general social media response to the new Ghostbusters, the very polarized views, and introduces Troy and Chris to the concept of "weaponized nostalgia." We also talk with Alex a bit about the benefits and the detriments of having these extended adolescences, purchasing toys and playing dress up as adults. This is one you won't want to miss. #221a - Cyclotron: Ghostbusters (2016) "Trailer 6" Discussion and Breakdown

Bright and early this Wednesday morning, Sony Pictures dropped a surprise trailer on us all and boy Ned Ryerson was it a doozy. So many great new images, the original Ray Parker Jr. theme song kicking in, and there's that whole subtitle "Answer the Call" debate that we have a little inside information direct from the source. But it is a roundtable, this isn't some goofball reaction video on YouTube. We've gotta talk shop about this, in a spiritual sense of course - and we've brought in the best of the best of the best by teaming up with the awesome team at the Yes Have Some Podcast to join us. It's two podcasts for the price of none (yay free) with this special Cylotron that brings Troy and Chris together with Craig Goldberg, Abigail Gardner, and Jacob Walsh to dissect this trailer from start to finish. So what're you waiting for? The apocalypse? Check it!
