Interdimensional Crossrip

An Important Message about the Crossrip Podcast

crossrip_text_norip_noglow_color.png

Hey there, everyone!

As faithful listeners of the Crossrip podcast may have heard today, we have some regrettable news. For those of you who have counted on us for Monday morning entertainment since 2015, for the first time in our six-year and 300-plus episode history, we’re taking an extended hiatus.

This decision did not come easily. Particularly with the excitement of the new movie at a fever pitch. However both Chris and myself want to leave the door open to come back when the time is right. Which is why this isn’t goodbye. This is we’ll meet again. Don’t know where. Don’t know when. But I know we’ll meet again some sunny day.

Why is this happening? A few reasons. The main and prevailing reason is that I am about to start a new project in which my time will be extremely limited. Also with the eve of Ghostbusters: Afterlife’s release upon us we’ve also come to a mutual decision that we’d love to just go into our sensory deprivation chambers for a while and just enjoy the film release. We’ve waited a long time for this film, and the more we do the podcast and the more we need to talk about news and speculate about items, the more we find ourselves delving into territory we’re hoping to dodge until well after the film release.

This franchise, and the new installment forthcoming, are all about bringing joy and light to the end of a very long and dark tunnel. Particularly after the pandemic. For Chris and myself, Ghostbusters is our escapism, our time to get away. And we’re both overjoyed to be sitting soon in a theater to enjoy the new film and start a whole new chapter as fans. There will certainly be a whole lot to talk about in the future. Don’t worry.

So what’s next? Well, the good news is that we already have several episodes already in the can that will be released through the year end including our usual mixtapes and holiday episodes. We have a couple unboxing episodes hitting the YouTube channel that were banked, and perhaps there might be a surprise episode drop here or there. And then after that, once we’re into 2022? Let’s touch base then.

One thing is for sure: we are so thankful for all of you listening, supporting us, calling into the voicemail, sending words of encouragement, laughing at all the in-jokes and terrible podcast bets, and for allowing us to be a part of your life for all of these years. And once we hit the airwaves again, which hopefully won’t be too long from now, we hope that you’ll welcome us back into your home, car, daily walk, or wherever you tuned in once again.

Thank you. Each and every one of you. We love you all.

See you on the other side,

Troy

Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed this morning that a new Ghostbusters 35th Anniversary edition steelbook is on the way this June… and there’s a familiar name amid the special features that will be on the disc! Indeed, I was fortunate enough to be asked along with my Ghostbusters Interdimensional Crossrip co-host Chris Stewart to join Eric Reich, Sean Bishop, and Ashley Victoria Robinson on a fan commentary track to play under the first movie!

We really did our best to focus on fun trivia facts both among the production and the lore of the series, point out tiny details in the corners of frames that we’ve always admired, and took advantage of having Ghost Corps’ Eric Reich with us to confirm or debunk some long-standing Ghostbusters urban legends behind the production. It’s a fun track and we hope that you all will enjoy it!

Here’s the rest of the details on the release, a visit to EW will give you a glimpse at a never before seen distributor pitch reel featuring Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in costume talking to theater owners!

The Crossrip Chats "Get Real #4" and Beyond with Dan Schoening

Another jam-packed episode of the Interdimensional Crossrip podcast hit the airwaves this morning. First up, a brief tribute to a fallen friend Ryan Kemp by Chris, then the latest news, and an interview with Ryan Doell and IDW Comics artist Dan Schoening. With the New York Comic-Con 2015 all wrapped up, we fittingly have a double-stuffed show to talk quite a bit about IDW's Ghostbusters Get Real and its conclusion.

Also this week: brand new Ghostbusters shoes, Michael C. Gross Day and appreciation, that Rick Moranis interview that everyone is talking about, a new Paul Feig interview where he discusses casting Chris Hemsworth, LEGO Dimensions, Anovos is going to be selling Ghostbusters-related props, oh and there might be a Ghostbusters animated film in the hopper?

Announcing the Ghostbusters Interdimensional Crossrip Podcast

Step into our time-traveling DeLorean for a moment and go back to April of 2000 with us. It was a time when 56K modems were still trickling out, America Online was still a thing, and there wasn't a Google or a YouTube in our daily vernacular. It was about this time that I thought, "Hey! A video news show about Ghostbusters sure would be swell!" Clocking in at a little over 3 minutes and about 8mb in all of its 4x3 SD QuickTime glory, the "Interdimensional Crossrip" was born and quickly died. Fifteen years ago, a video program where you had to set up your computer to download overnight (and pray that nobody picked up the phone line and disconnected your internet link) was a little unwieldy and not entirely practical.

Fast-forward fifteen years when YouTube and Twitch streams are a part of our every day. Anyone with a connection can have a voice. Now that the HQ is back up and running, I started getting the itch to put together some sort of program. I saw the good folks at Ghostbusters News bested my attempt fifteen years ago with a new YouTube show but noticed that our stalwart Ghostheads and Cross the Streams podcasts were a little dormant.

So I got on the horn with Chris Stewart of Proton Charging and asked him if he wanted to help me give this a try again. To my delight, he said yes and we put together a little something.

The all-new Ghostbusters Interdimensional Crossrip is an hour-long podcast that will bring you news, analysis and interviews on all things Ghostbusters. We're still finding our feet but we quietly released our first episode earlier in the week and are now ready to share it with the masses. You can listen and download the podcast here on the HQ, or you can subscribe on iTunes (and soon Stitcher and a few other outlets of your preference). All-new episodes are forthcoming as well, but we want to hear your feedback on what you'd like to hear. Drop us a comment or reach out on our Twitter/Facebook!
